E. Stevens Henry


Edward Stevens Henry (February 10, 1836 - October 10, 1921) was a U.S. Representative from Connecticut.
Born in the town of Gill, Massachusetts, Henry moved to Rockville, Connecticut.
He attended the public schools.
He engaged in the dry-goods business.
Treasurer of the People's Saving Bank, Rockville from 1870 to 1921.
He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1883.
He served in the State senate in 1887 and 1888.
He served as delegate at large to the Republican National Convention in 1888.
Treasurer of the State of Connecticut 1889-1893.
He served as mayor of Rockville in 1894 and 1895.
Henry was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and to the eight succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1895-March 3, 1913).
He served as chairman of the Committee on Expenditures on Public Buildings (Sixtieth and Sixty-first Congresses).
He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1912.
He resumed his former mercantile pursuits in Rockville, Connecticut, where he died October 10, 1921.
He was interred in Grove Hill Cemetery.
